Invalid DVD Navigation Structure

Invalid DVD Navigation Structure is what many people got problem when using DVD shrink. This is an error message to be solved. It may appear like “DVD Shrink encounter an error and cannot continue - Invalid DVD navigation structure”.

You might be trying to backup a dvd that was already burnt. You opened up dvd shrink click open disc and a message pops up saying “dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. invalid dvd navigation structure”. So then you aks somebody to help you.

The most likely culprit is one (or more) of the newer copy protection schemes giving a screwed up rip that DvdShrink is choking on. If that’s the case, you can use the “PSL2 Plugin for PgcEdit” to get a dvd compliant rip.

The PSL2 Plugin now has a package available (for free) at the official forum (here) in the “PSL2 Plugin Installer” forum. Once the package is installed, the PSL2 Plugin will help you to easily rip and repair dvd’s infested with the latest copy protection systems (so DvdShrink can process the files without problems). If that doesn’t solve your problem, there is a list of other possible causes here.

There are some people also get encountered the INVALID DVD NAVIGATION STRUCTURE error when trying to OPEN DVD. They are going to try some different software but they would prefer to stick with it.

If you have the time and hard drive space, you can try and create a DVD iso image of the video files you have (using ImgBurn as an example), then use Daemon Tools (or Virtual Clone Drive) to mount that image. Then use some other client software such as RipIt4Me combined with DVDDecryptor to try and rip the DVD files again to your hard drive.

When using RipIt4me, you will first be prompted to Create a PSL file, do so. Then let RipIt4Me open DVDDecryptor open your DVD and the newly created PSL file on its own. At this point don’t touch anything until you get to the DVDDecryptor window, letting you rip your DVD. Once the DVD is ripped, you will be prompted by RipIt4Me to cleanup and repair files, do so, then finally use DVD Shrink to try again.

This may seem like a waste of your time, but RipIt4Me has an incredible way of finding useless files within the DVD vob files and repairing them. Don’t forget, as soon as you download the needed software, make sure you setup RipIt4Me, telling it where DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink are located at.

Dvd43 is free program that integrates into windows and decrypts dvds on the fly. It will decrypt (unlock) a movie dvd so that your copy program can read it.
